The Parties discussed the issue of European integration of Ukraine and prospects of signing the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement in the context of the upcoming Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius in November this year.

Polish Ambassador supported Euro-integrational aspirations of our country and stressed the necessity of timely fulfillment of the EU criteria, outlined in the European Council conclusions (10/12/12), particularly, in regard to politically-motivated persecution.

“Timely fulfillment of criteria is the necessary pre-condition for signing the Association Agreement during the Vilnius Summit. Settlement of the issue of selective persecution remains a key one here,” stressed Henrik Litvin. “I would like to remind that yesterday, after the meeting with the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, the President of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski expressed hope that Ukraine will find the way to remove an important obstacle for signing the Association Agreement, particularly, settle the “Tymoshenko case”,” he stressed.

Hryhoriy Nemyrya thanked Polish Ambassador for the support of Ukraine on its way to the EU and informed him of the course of adoption of the Euro-integrational laws by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Apart from this, the Parties have discussed issues of bilateral cooperation, particularly, that of Polish experience in adapting national legislation to the European one.
